LA PRAIRIE BUILDS CLOSER TIES WITH CLINIQUE LA PRAIRIE IN MONTREUX

Following an agreement between parent company, Beiersdorf, and Clinique La Prairie, to acquire the real estate assets of Clinique La Prairie, the luxury skincare house La Prairie is reunited with its historical birthplace.

On 28 February 2024, Beiersdorf AG, the parent company behind the luxury brand La Prairie, signed an agreement to acquire the real estate assets of Clinique La Prairie in Montreux, Switzerland. The transaction is subject to the customary closing conditions and is expected to be completed later this year. La Prairie Group is delighted to be entering a new era of partnership with the Clinique La Prairie Group, global leader in longevity, and both teams are focused on the exciting possibilities that closer collaboration could bring.

Established in 1931, the Clinique La Prairie site is where the original research into cellular therapy for use in rejuvenating cosmetic products took place. Since then, the cellular complex has become the essential scientific basis of all La Prairie’s luxury skincare products. Through the acquisition, the iconic Clinique La Prairie building, “La Résidence”, a typical Swiss-style villa on the shores of Lake Léman, which features in the La Prairie brand emblem, becomes part of Beiersdorf Group.

Patrick Rasquinet, Member of the Beiersdorf Executive Board, expressed his enthusiasm for this latest development, saying, “Through the acquisition, we strengthen our iconic skin care brand La Prairie by reuniting it with its historic birthplace. Clinique La Prairie and La Prairie share a common approach to luxury, longevity, and exclusive client experiences, so we are excited about the possibilities that closer collaboration could open up for us.”

Simone Gibertoni, CEO of Clinique La Prairie Group, shared this enthusiasm, saying, “We very much welcome this acquisition and the possibilities of further collaboration. Clinique La Prairie Group will reinforce its international development plan strengthening our leadership in the world of health and longevity.”

Since the 1980s, La Prairie Group and Clinique La Prairie Group have been separate entities with distinct brands. According to the agreement, the acquired premises of more than 23,000 qm² comprise seven buildings, and includes the signature villa, “La Résidence”. The on-site medical and health clinic will continue to be operated by Clinique La Prairie Group. The parties have agreed not to disclose financial details of the transaction.
